In Part 2, I’m digging deeper into my lessons learned during my silent growth period and also sharing the specific tools I’ve incorporated into my daily routine in order to decrease the chances of having to take such an extended leave again or worse - experiencing another bout of burnout!

Lastly, I walk you through the new direction for Your Career Girl and Deeper than Work and clearly explain what I do and who I serve.

As always, I truly appreciate all of your support and encouragement, and I’m grateful to have a community who embraces me - flaws and all!

Episode 41: How To Be A Boss In Your Love Life And In Your Career

CharreahJackson_credMarinaZarya.jpg

Hey Career Girl Nation!

This is an episode you don’t want to miss. I get to interview Charreah Jackson, author of the new book Boss Bride: The Powerful Woman’s Playbook for Love and Success
Charreah has spent more than 10 years researching healthy relationships and careers. She’s also a senior editor for Essence magazine, and her stories have been featured on CNN, NBC, Time, Fortune, and more.

Being a “boss bride” is all about a state of mind. It starts with finding the parallels between your work and home life and merging them into one.

Over 50% of households have a female who is making all the money, or a “female breadwinner” so to speak. It’s the new normal, and yet hiring managers are still basing their decisions on your social status in life. Are you engaged? Planning a wedding? Married?

There’s also a struggle with finding the right partner in your life, and it’s not a choice that should be taken lightly. You need to be strategic and intentional with your romantic life, in the same ways you approach your professional life.

If you want to be a boss at your love life and your job, episode 41 is a must listen!

Hey Career Girl Nation!

Today’s episode is all about burnout. It’s definitely a real thing and something so many women can relate to.

I’ve experienced burnout myself for a few months. I was falling asleep constantly, in a constant state of stress, and I just didn’t have it in me anymore. Being burned out in your career is serious.

When I shared what I was going through with my community, the response was incredible. It resonated with numerous people, especially women. Many of us are juggling many hats as mothers, wives, career women and it’s easy to think you can do it all, all the time.

I’m going to discuss how to identify, reverse, and prevent burnout in your career. Now, this doesn’t mean you are doing something wrong. It doesn’t mean you are in a toxic environment. Burnout just happens, and we may not always realize it.

If you think you are burned out and want to do something about it, take a listen to episode 40!

Episode 39: Why Being Underpaid is Costing You More Than Just Money

Show notes - Main Photo (5).png

Nemo Ashong

Hey Career Girl Nation!

In this episode, I get to interview a very special guest! I’ve known Mr. Nemo Ashong for close to two years, who is the founder of Empjoyment. He talks about his mission to have a truly inclusive and empowered world, and how we can value ourselves and know our full self-worth.

All of us are priceless, but we live in a world where things cost money and we need to afford that lifestyle. We should be pushing to get top dollar to where we are. But first, we need to be able to demonstrate our value, and own who we are.

I’m talking to a lot of women who are working to get the salaries they deserve, but there are systems at play where they don’t get paid at the same levels as men. A woman only makes 80 cents for every dollar that a man makes. For a black woman, they make even less. We discuss how you can start creating a space where you can speak freely, and open more doors.

If you know you are worth more and you want your salary to grow, episode 39 is a must listen!
