In this episode of Deeper Than Work, I am thrilled to be joined by Lexi B. Lexi is an entrepreneur, speaker, writer, freedom fighter and a Black woman in tech.

In addition to all of that, Lexi is a community builder - which led her to create Sista Circle: Black Women in Tech.

The goal of Sista Circle is to support the work of Black women in the Tech industry by building a strong network and safe space. Sista Circle partners with tech companies like Facebook, Instagram, and Slack, to promote recruitment and retention of black women.

Lexi and I talk about her experiences being the only person that looks like her in the room, the importance of building a strong community, and how to change your own internal narrative.

One thing I’ve learned over my 15 years in Corporate America is that feedback can be a key differentiator between those who succeed and and those who don’t. Especially for those of us who are looking to climb the ladder, take on leadership positions, and/or secure higher paying opportunities, understanding what we should stop, start, and continue doing is a critical part of our journey.

All feedback is NOT created equal though and research tells us that Black women are less likely to receive the kind of meaningful feedback we need in order to improve our skills so we can get to the next level.

Join me in this episode as I dive deep into how important good feedback is, and how you can take control of the conversation so you can demand the kind of feedback that will help you take your career to the next level.
